Tapped In #011: Ginger Spice, Gin Nights & Game Day Magic

Hey all,
Some weeks just fill your cup – and this was one of them.
Thursday brought our regular trivia night, Friday was full of happy dogs lapping up our new Dog Beer, and Saturday’s Gin Tasting with White Oat turned into a huge day. I came in to mingle and cover some staff breaks, and Evan from White Oat told me, “I go to a lot of places, but you guys just have such a lovely customer base. You’re really lucky.”
He’s right – we are. We’re lucky to have customers who come in, be themselves, and create such a welcoming, fun atmosphere. Many of them stayed until practically closing time, which is always a good sign.
Then Sunday capped it all off with a packed Brisbane Lions home game. It was my first time behind the bar for a Lions game in a long time, and it was awesome to see the team working like a well-oiled machine – covering each other, still smiling, still taking the time to chat with customers, even when it was pumping. That’s the stuff that makes me proud.
💛 Where’s Fran?
If you’ve been in recently, you may have noticed my mum, Fran, hasn’t been around. A lot of you have asked about her, which shows just how much she’s become part of the Future Magic experience.
She’s recovering from ankle surgery – something that’s been a long time coming – so she’s having a well-deserved rest. Don’t worry, she’s still involved every day with operations and helping shape how Future Magic runs, but for now we’re making sure she puts her feet up, one in particular!
🍺 Say hello to The Ginger One
While we're brewing our core range and some super special beers on the main brewhouse, we've also been making sure some R&D on the pilot kit has been humming along – and this week it’s given us something new and exciting that many of you have been asking for for ages! Meet The Ginger One, our brand new ginger beer.
This one’s extra special: it’s inspired by Mum’s all-time favourite band, the Spice Girls (I know...😂). It’s a proper Ginger Spice nod – brewed with dried ginger root early on, then infused with bruised fresh ginger before packaging for that bright, zesty kick.
It’s light, refreshing, and full of flavour – and as a pilot batch, it’s super limited. So if you want to try it and give me your feedback, come in soon before it’s gone. My secret hack for it at the moment is to try it with a little squeeze of lime!

🛠️ The Loft: Updates
Upstairs is racing ahead. This week we’re starting on the bar build, painting, and insulating the roof to make sure the space is cool and comfortable come summer. Every week it’s looking less like a building site and more like the venue we’ve dreamed of – and we can’t wait to open the doors to you. Neither can Cam, pictured below, he's the absolute legend who's built all of our walls and is making the space come to life!

This week reminded me how lucky we are – to have such a kind customer base, a hard-working team, and a community that cares enough to ask after Fran when she’s not around. Whether you’re here for trivia, a new beer, or just a cheeky pint after work, you’re what makes Future Magic what it is.
