Tapped In #009: Big Days, Big Catch-Ups

Hey all,

Last week was absolutely mental! From the roar of Lions fans to the clink of trivia-night glasses, the taproom has been absolutely alive - and I wouldn’t have it any other way. If you were here, you know exactly what I mean. If not… well, here’s a taste of what you missed (and what’s coming).

A Weekend for the Books

Thursday’s trivia night got the ball rolling, Friday night brought that classic pre-weekend buzz… but Saturday? Saturday was next level. Our Lions fans packed the place pre-game, then came back for post-game pints since it was an early kick-off. Pre-game rolled into post-game and the energy just never dipped. It was one of our biggest single days ever - and it all ran so smoothly that it reminded me just how good our crew is when we’re firing on all cylinders.

Sunday kept the momentum going, and it was lovely seeing so many regulars and families. A special highlight for the whole week was seeing so many of you welcome Indi back from her holidays - it’s the little connections like that which make this place more than just a brewery.

Meatballs Worth Talking About

No new dishes this week, but let’s give a little love to a quiet achiever on our menu - the meatballs. These beauties are rich, saucy, perfectly seasoned, and exactly what you want to go with a cold beer and some good company. They’re not just a side; they’re a reason to visit. If you haven’t tried them yet, make this the week.

What’s Coming Up

Two big things to have on your radar:

  • Brooklyn Nine-Nine Trivia: Thursday 28th. Gather your squad, brush up on your favourite cold opens, and prepare for some serious laughs.

  • Gin Masterclass: Saturday 23rd. Four cocktails, tasty nibbles, and an inside look at the craft of gin making. Tickets are $59 and spots are already going fast.

And keep your eyes peeled… a little pilot batch of ginger beer is in the works. It’s a single keg, so when it appears on the bar, you’ll need to be quick.

Upstairs Progress

It’s all systems go for the upstairs event space. Most of the electrical is now in, which means lights (finally!), and we’re starting to see the shape of the space come together. It’s getting very close to the stage where we can start showing you what’s possible up there – and trust me, it’s going to be worth the wait. This week we've got framing and sheeting of walls and ordering of plumbing items for the private toilet up there!

A Familiar Face Returns

This week also brought back an old favourite - and I don’t mean a beer. One of our most popular staff members ever, Llŷr (or Will…or Monzo…or Momo, depending on who you ask), dropped in with his mum and dad while they were visiting from Wales. He hasn’t worked with us in over a year, but still wanted to bring his family in to meet ours. We shared lunch, dinner, a few beers, and a whole lot of stories. It was a reminder that the bonds we make here go way beyond shifts and rosters. It was good to see you mate and an absolute pleasure to meet your Mum and Dad!

Until next round…

This place is at its best when it’s full of conversation, laughter, and the smell of something delicious coming out of the kitchen. Whether you’re here for a cheeky beer with mates, family time over dinner, or to test your knowledge at trivia, you’re part of what makes Future Magic what it is. So keep those good vibes coming – we’ll keep the taps flowing, the ovens hot, and the events rolling.

See you in the taproom soon,

Sean
