Tapped In #008: Big Fella’s Here to Stay, New Beers on the Horizon

Hey all,
One of the best things about running a place like Future Magic is seeing the way it weaves into people’s everyday lives.
This week we had so many of you coming in just to get away from the grind, grabbing a pint, sharing a meal, and making us part of your routine. We know you could spend that time anywhere, doing anything, and the fact that you choose to spend it with us - that means absolutely everything. It’s why we do what we do.
🍺 The Big Fella is Back – And It’s Here to Stay!
After a few delays and some patience-testing weeks, The Big Fella - our dry Irish stout - is finally back on tap and pouring beautifully. And here’s the big news:
We’ve decided to make Big Fella core range, meaning it’ll be on permanently from now on. It’s taking the place of Meteorite Stout, which has served us well until now but it’s time for a new chapter.
Expect that smooth roastiness, gentle bitterness, and easy drinkability every time you walk in.
🎯 Upcoming Events: Brooklyn Nine-Nine & Gin Masterclass
We’ve got two events you’ll want to lock in your diary:
Brooklyn Nine-Nine Trivia – Thursday 28th July - Get your squad together for a night of laughs, questionable detective work, and fierce table rivalries.
Gin Masterclass – Saturday 23rd August - $59 per person, includes four cocktails, nibbles, and a guided tasting experience with our friends from White Oat Distillery.
🛠 Upstairs Renovations: Big Steps Forward
The upstairs build is really moving now. We’ve reached a major milestone - all the electrical equipment is ordered, the scissor lift is on site so we can work at height safely, and the walls are going up.
The bench seating is finished, plumbing is being coated, and from this week we’ll start getting lights in. That means we’re getting closer to a space you can actually come up and enjoy.
We’ve got fresh photos of the framing and will keep sharing progress as the transformation continues.

🍻 Behind the Brews: Oktoberfest & More
It’s a big, busy week in the brewery this week with four beers in the works:
Straight Out of Köln – A modern twist on a classic Kolsch, brewed with Mandarina Bavaria hops for a citrusy lift. Clean, crisp, and perfect for Oktoberfest.
Hazy Shade – A fresh batch is on the way.
Galaxy Dust – Another crowd favourite getting topped up.
Million Dollar Sour – A mixed berry sour that’s tart, fruity, and fun.
We’re looking forward to sharing these with you as they roll out over the next few weeks.
📲 Order with Bopple – Food & Beer, Together at Last
We’ve been working with Bopple for a while now, and if you haven’t tried ordering through them yet, here’s why we’re shouting about it this week:
Their head office is just up the road in Kangaroo Point, and we’re proud to partner with another local crew. But the real kicker? Unlike any other platform we could find, Bopple lets you order both food and beer for pickup or delivery.
