Tapped In #005: Brewing Decisions, Black IPAs & Big Cheesesteak Energy

Hey all,
If there was one word to sum up the vibe around Future Magic this past week, it’d be movement.
We’re pushing forward on a lot of fronts - planning the new upstairs events space, locking in a full beer calendar for the rest of the year (there are some bangers coming), and trialling new things on the menu. The brewery’s felt full of momentum - and it’s a feeling we’re chasing more of.
A big part of that has come from how well the Philly Cheesesteak went down. You lot didn’t just like it - you demolished it. We ran out by Saturday. So, it’s back this week… and if you’re lucky, there might just be a second meatball-y surprise sandwich on the board soon. 👀
🖤 Black IPA on Tap – Deep Purple Lands
While the gas gods failed us for The Big Fella last week (cheers to a faulty seal!), we’re back strong this week with something a little moody and a lot delicious.
Deep Purple, our Black IPA, is now on tap from today, with cans dropping this Friday. It's packed with Columbus, Simcoe and Chinook hops, giving you that bold piney, resinous hit with layers of citrus tucked into a rich, dark malt base.
This one’s perfect for anyone who wants something with teeth - or who just likes their beer with a bit of mystery.
🍻 Big Fella + Meteorite = Reader Bonus Combo
We’re all still waiting patiently (read: swearing under our breath) for Big Fella to reappear on tap after last week’s gas fiasco.
But if you’re craving a roasty, chocolatey hit of stout, we’ve got plenty of Big Fella in cans, and here’s a little love for our email readers only:
🎁 Buy Big Fella online this week and get 65% off the same-size Meteorite Stout ➡️
Can-for-can, 4-pack for 4-pack, carton for carton. 🗓 Offer ends Monday at midnight - automatic at checkout.
🧙♂️ Harry Potter Trivia Is Nearly Full
Next Thursday, July 24th, it’s robes on, wands out, and maybe a Butterbeer or two (okay, it’s just beer, but with enough imagination...).
Our Harry Potter Trivia Night is almost completely booked. If you’re even slightly wizard-curious, don’t miss this one - it’s one of the best nights of the year for costumes, friendly chaos, and house rivalries settled over schooners.

🍺 The Beer We Didn’t Release
Let’s get honest for a sec.
A couple of weeks ago, I brewed a beer using a replacement yeast - our usual strain wasn’t available, and I figured we could substitute with an "equivalent".
Bad Idea.
It didn’t meet the style, didn’t align with what we aim for in that beer, and couldn’t really be pivoted into something new. And so last week, I made the call every brewer hates making - we dumped it.
It’s one of those tough decisions that comes with having real standards. It cost us time, ingredients, money… but the alternative would’ve cost something bigger: trust.
We decided to be upfront and public about it because this is the kind of business we’re building - one I am extremely proud of, where integrity shows up in the actions, not just the branding.
If we say we care about quality, we have to show it. That means sometimes putting beer down the drain. And we’ll keep doing that, if it means keeping the good stuff in your glass.

Until Next Round…
Every week we’re seeing more of you referencing this blog in the taproom, tagging us online, or sneaking in for a cheeky weekday pint because of what you read here - and honestly, it means the world.
If you’re loving the new beers, curious about the sandwiches, or have thoughts on what should go into the new events space - we’re listening.
Cheers,
Sean + the Future Magic crew
