Tapped In #003: Real Pints, Hogwarts Energy and Free Balls (Arancini, Relax)

Hey all,

It’s been one of those weeks, stocktake chaos, staff off sick, and the usual taproom madness. But as always, the show goes on, we got through it & I actually feel well enough to have a beer now!.

And honestly? Last Thursday’s Disney Trivia Night made it all worthwhile. The taproom was absolutely packed, full of people in costume, singing along, laughing, and leaning way too hard into their team names. It was a reminder of what this place is really about - yes, beer and pizza, but more importantly, creating space for good humans to share a bit of joy.

So, let’s roll into this week with that energy.

🍺 Biggles ESB Is Back - And It's Pouring Like It Should

Some beers are built for schooners. Others deserve a proper pint glass - the kind you’d get in a dim-lit British pub after a long day.

That’s what we’ve done with Biggles, our returning Extra Special Bitter. It’s malt-driven, smooth, and absolutely classic. And it’s now pouring in our brand-new, old-school pint glasses - because a Proper Beer deserves Proper Glasses!

If you haven’t tried Biggles yet, or want to see what it’s like when beer and glassware match up just right - now’s the time.

🍴 Free Arancini (No Catch, Just Yum)

Let’s talk arancini. Not the frozen kind. Not the dry-in-the-middle kind.

Ours are handmade by Sonia, one of our familiar faces behind the bar - she’s been perfecting the recipe batch after batch. The beef arancini are rich and cheesy, oozing with tomatoey goodness - kind of like a little handheld lasagna, wrapped in crisp golden magic.

And because you’re reading this newsletter, you get a little something:

🎉 Show this email at the bar and we’ll give you an extra arancini ball, on the house.

It’s the first time we’ve offered this in the newsletter. Just flash your phone and it’s yours.

🍸 Gin Masterclass – A Spirit Lover’s Dream (July 12)

These events are fast becoming a favourite. And not because they’re rowdy - it’s the opposite.

Hosted by Evan from White Oat Distillery, this Gin Masterclass is about slowing down, learning something new, and really tasting what’s in your glass. You’ll hear the stories behind the spirits, try different botanical combos, and walk away with a better appreciation for what goes into making great gin.

Plus, there’s plenty of fun. A few cocktails in, and people start sharing their own gin cocktail ideas - or how they’ve never gone back after tasting a real one. It’s a beautiful thing.

Saturday July 12 | 3–5pm 🍸 Bottomless cocktails (yep) 🍢 Canapés included 👯‍♀️

Great for gin lovers, first dates, group hangs, or solo adventurers💰 Just $49 - limited spots remaining.

🧙‍♂️ Harry Potter Trivia – July 24

If you’ve been to one of our themed trivia nights before, you’ll know - they’re the definition of chaotic good.

But Harry Potter nights hit different. We transform the venue into Hogwarts. Staff dress up. Regulars bring wands. There’s laughter, friendly heckling, dramatic spell-offs and debates about whether Snape was a hero (he was, for the record).

Whether you’re a die-hard or just know who Dobby is, you’ll feel welcome and wildly entertained.

🗓 Thursday July 24 | 6:30pm 👕 Costumes encouraged 🏆 Prizes + surprises 📚 Massive energy ⚡️ Bookings ESSENTIAL - this one always sells out.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Kids Eat Free These Holidays!

Here’s the thing: school holidays at Future Magic don’t feel much different than normal - we’re a family venue every day of the year.

We know kids aren’t always quiet. We know play can look like chaos. And we’re totally here for it. We've got spaces set up to let kids be kids and have our family friendly tables right nearby so you can stay close at hand to ensure they're looked after.

Through the school break, kids eat free with any main meal or pizza. Favourites include the ham & cheese pizza or the chicken tenders and chips. And here’s a hot tip from me: when my kids leave all the crusts, I grab a dipping sauce and treat myself to the parent bonus snack because lets face it, kids don't eat the crusts (sorry Francesco!) but I'll happily buy myself a little dipping sauce to make my Dad Tax a little sweeter!

These guys broke the rule and ate all the pizza crusts!

Until Next Round…

We’re not about trying to be the flashiest venue in Brisbane - just the one that remembers your face, pours a proper pint, and makes you feel like you’re part of something.

Thanks for being here, reading this, and showing up when it matters. I truly appreciate it.

Cheers,

Sean + the Future Magic crew
